Weekly Fighters Practise
Armoured combat (also called “heavy fighting”) in the SCA is a full force combat style using rattan weapons and protective armour and is a form of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). If you’re interested in doing some sword fighting with us, please come along!
Fighters Practise is every Wednesday night from 5:30PM on Lake Domain drive near Innes Common (the hockey grounds; map here). Practices are sometimes cancelled due to rain. If you’d like to get on the text group for practice-related notifications, please contact the marshal.
We have a limited amount of loan armour available, and can provide assistance and advice in sourcing or making armour. If you’re thinking of coming, please let the marshal know and we can bring loaner armour for you.
Beginners are always welcome, but you must be over 16 to train with us.
What to bring: Clothing that allows freedom of movement, and closed-toed sports shoes such as trainers. Practice sessions are outdoors, so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and season. It’s a good idea to bring something to drink to stay hydrated.
